On Wednesday afternoon, September 16th, 2015 the D.A.W.N. Society celebrated 25 years of providing services to the community of Delta.
It was a beautiful sunny day, and over 100 guests attended this wonderful milestone.
The celebration took place in our backyard which was beautifully decorated, thanks to the efforts of our Decorating Committee.
We were very fortunate to have three of our former Chairpersons, Stan Auerbach, Paul LeRoy, Peter Evans, along with our Chairperson, Harry Monk in attendance.. Also present were staff, community partners, family members and friends, Board members and clients who have utilized our services over the years.
The event also gave us an opportunity to showcase two of our programs; our “Gerry Graham Music Program” and our “You Gotta Have Art Program”. Our Music teacher, Jared, along with one of our members, serenaded us throughout the afternoon with their guitars and melodic tones.
A wide array of art from our art program was displayed, along with our newly created art cards.
Speeches were made by Stan Auerbach who gave us an overview of the early days at D.A.W.N., Harry Monk talked about our accomplishments and gave thanks to our community, and a member also gave a personal account on what the services of D.A.W.N. has meant to her recovery. Many thanks to everyone for such heartfelt presentations.
Truffles Catering provided the refreshments, and a beautiful cake from Venetos made the celebration extra special.
The afternoon provided us with the opportunity to reflect on all our accomplishments over the past 25 years, and celebrate with everyone who has been such an integral part of the Society over the years.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who made this day possible, and we look forward to many more years serving the community of Delta at the D.A.W.N. Society.
